Lead planter Nathan Kollar received a check for $30,000 toward the launch of Clarity Church in Santa Monica, California. Nathan and his core team are going into the Hollywood area in an effort to impact the arts and movie industry in the hopes that influencing those who help create culture will eventually have an impact nationwide. Since implementing the CMN Matching Funds program in Fall of 2007, the impact has been significant. In the two-and-a-half years since the Church Multiplication Network and AG Trust began awarding Matching Funds to church plants, $3,090,000 has been matched to 103 new churches. Churches who participate in the CMN Matching Funds Program have a success rate of 98 percent. "I'm grateful for the partnership of AG Trust who is raising the monies needed to partner with church planters," says Steve Pike, National Director for the Church Multiplication Network. "The process of a structured partnership between planters, partner churches, districts and the National Office has proven that it really does make for a more effective church." In Fall of 2007, Todd Bishop, lead pastor of The Point Church in Westbury, New York, was the first church to benefit from the Matching Fund. In May of 2009, The Point Church completed replenishing the $30,000 they received and paid it forward to Paul Stewart and The Gateway Church in Des Moines, Iowa. Since the inception of the CMN Matching Fund, there have been 4,855 confessions of faith and over 200,000 face-to-face contacts with previously unchurched people. The Church Multiplication Network believes that missions is a vital part of a healthy church and has stressed the importance of missions giving with Matching Fund Churches. To date, Matching Fund Churches have given $688,604 to missions and paid forward $422,798 to the Matching Fund, for a total of over $1 million given toward ministry efforts. "Looking ahead 20 years," Pike says, "based on today's figures, this means every $30,000 investment will produce: four churches funded, 4,895 confessions of faith, 906 water baptisms and 635 Spirit baptisms, and $876,000 given to missions. Now imagine these results multiplied by 500!" The Church Multiplication Network's short-term goal is to fund 500 Matching Fund Churches over the next few years. Currently, the average is 270 per year, but more will have to be done in order to outpace the population growth. To fund these 500 churches, $15,000,000 is needed. The National Women's Department has just released a new publication, "Moms: Biblical Insights for Mothers and Grandmothers." According to Managing Editor Darla Knoth, the publication is designed for pastors to give as a gift to women in their congregations on Mother's Day, May 9, or for leaders to give at a women's event. "'Moms: Biblical Insights for Mothers and Grandmothers' delves into areas of keen interest to women," Knoth says, "such as working moms' challenges, family devotions, teaching a biblical worldview, a grandmother's spiritual impact, how to bring up children who become grateful and generous adults, as well as other topics of great interest to women." Knoth shares that an exclusive feature of this year's publication for moms is an interview with Dr. James Dobson, concerning the release of his long-awaited book on raising daughters. "Bringing Up Girls" releases to the public April 14. Dobson says, "Although our daughters are doing rather well academically and on some measures of social and personal health, I am extremely concerned about them in many ways. Girls are under enormous pressures rarely experienced by their mothers, grandmothers and previous generations." The question-answer article with Dobson gives further insight on parenting daughters. The publication also includes articles about raising an autistic child, homeschooling, raising children in public schools, advice for mother-in-laws, discussing sexuality with children, ministering to a mother who has just lost a child and more. "The magazine also lists many suggested parenting resources," Knoth adds. National Women's Director Arlene Allen says, "We hope you enjoy this issue of 'Moms: Biblical Insights' and allow each article to speak to the women of your church about their important role as mother or grandmother." Allen points out that, unlike giving a consumable item, giving a gift with this content can have an eternal effect on the women of a congregation ? and the magazine sells for only $1 per copy. To learn more about this publication, including brief summaries of all the articles, the cover design and a link to the ordering information, visit http://s2.ag.org/moms. --AG News ---------------------------------------------------------------------- **LAUNCH OF HEART AND SOUL PRAYER INITIATIVE COMING SOON Sunday, May 2, 2010, is the launch date for the 20-week initiative, "Praying through the Heart of the Year for the Soul of Our Nation." Believers in the Assemblies of God and other church bodies are encouraged to pray for fulfillment of the 20 indicators of spiritual awakening outlined by the Awakening America Alliance. An informational article, brief video, plus a flier with the indicators of awakening and implementation guidelines and prayer guides for each week can be downloaded free from the National Prayer Center Web site (http://prayer.ag.org). "Our prayer is that many people will individually participate by going online to review or print the prayer guides," states NPC director John Maempa. "We also hope that prayer groups in our churches will form around this initiative during the 20-week period. Our nation and the Church desperately need a Christ awakening in this day. "We also trust that believers across our Fellowship will participate in praying for our nation on the National Day of Prayer, Thursday, May 6," Maempa says. "Prayer points developed by the National Day of Prayer office are incorporated in the Heart and Soul prayer initiative." Information about the Heart and Soul prayer initiative can be found at http://prayer.ag.org or http://ag.org and clicking on the Heart and Soul banner. --AG News ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For a regularly updated list of upcoming significant Assemblies of God days and events--many linked to informational, registration or ordering pages--see the following address: <http://ag.org/top/events/index.cfm>. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------- AG-NEWS: The A/G News & Information Service, (c) 2010 A service of the Assemblies of God's Office of Public Relations.
